Guest Speaker Series
On January 16th our guest speaker was Kim Frodge from Nana’s House.
Kim gave us an update on Nana’s House latest project. It is a $7-8 million project which has a total of 8 houses for neglected abused, needy and abandoned children. Five of the homes are currently operating with house parents and 19 children.
Each home can house up to 5 children and two house parents. Three homes are now completed and waiting certificate of occupancy in order to open. This is expected in the next few weeks. . . there is a family of four siblings waiting occupancy. The complex is privately gated. A security gate with cameras has been donated and is in process of being installed. There are also two apartments, one which will be occupied by an onsite manager and the other by a maintenance person.
Nana’s House is 100% debt free with an annual budget of $620,000. This covers insurance, food, gas for mini-vans, and other monthly expenses. All house parents are volunteers with housing provided for them. The budget for each home is $2,000 per month. Nana’s House is certified through the Florida Association of Christian Child Care Agencies. The emphasis is to raise the children in Christian environment, to graduate them from high school and encourage them to continue their education and to become self-sufficient.
The next fundraising event “Tastes from Around the World” will be held on Saturday February 16th. (see below) For more information visit nanaschildrenshome.com.
