The Students of the Month Award recognizes hard-working pre-high school and high school students who attain high levels of scholastic achievement, community involvement and leadership, and daily demonstrate good citizenship both at school, at home and in the community.
Kenyan Paschall has already completed Algebra 1 and is currently enrolled in Geometry in his 8th grade year. Kenyan was recognized by the Indian River School District for scoring a perfect score on his 7th grade Civics End of Course exam. His love of learning is contagious, and he brings a sense of happiness to the classroom. This is a well-deserved honor for one of our future leaders. In accepting his award Kenyon thanked Sebastian Exchange Club and his teachers and parents, stating he is “incredibly honored” to be selected.
Lyon Burns is a young man of high character, extremely motivated and enjoys helping his fellow students. He is part of the chess club and enjoys it as well as table tennis. He plans to attend Vero Beach High School and then on to FSU to study astronomy. In accepting his award he thanked Sebastian Exchange Club, his parents and “especially my teachers” for being selected.
Alyssa Thompson is an IB Advanced Student who balances a full course load and also is a member of the county swim team where she had two first place wins from her last meet. The IB Learner Profile traits are: Thinker, Openminded, Principled, Balanced, Risk-taker, Reflective, Inquirers, Communicators, Caring and Knowledgeable. Alyssa is one student who constantly demonstrates these qualities. Though she has a packed schedule and full course load, she is on the A/B honor roll. In accepting her award Alyssa thanked her family, teachers and Sebastian Exchange Club saying “This is really a huge honor – it means a lot!”
Toni Shae Ferguson is an IB Diploma candidate and an AP scholar with a Weighted GPA of 4.46, and Class rank of 15th out of 397. She pays attention to detail and is quiet, kind and compassionate. In accepting her award she thanked her teachers, family and Sebastian Exchange Club.
