“Tastes From Around The World” (By Karen McElveen)
What a great fundraiser for Nana’s House! Several Sebastian Exchangites attended Tastes From Around the World event on Saturday, February 16th at the Eau Gallie Civic Center. Delicious food from nine different countries was served. In addition, for the entertainment, each country was represented by dancers who showcased music and dance from the different countries!
The purpose of the event was to raise money to support Nana’s House and the wonderful work they do for Neglected, Abused, Needy and Abandoned children by providing a normal, healthy home setting.
Kim Frodge, Executive Director, is fulfilling her dream of providing a safe, gated community to raise these children in, with the near completion of the project in Palm Bay.
The Sebastian Exchange Club presented them with a donation of $7,000 at the event. Our table walked away with the award for the group that raised the most money at the event. Karen McElveen, table hostess, chose a Chalet in the Valley trip to the Smokey Mountains valued at $2,000.
We plan to donate the trip for the Blue Water Open to be used in the auction to raise additional dollars for the charities we support. It’s a win-win situation!
Thanks to those who attended that Saturday night and represented the Sebastian Exchange Club so well! We were all decked out in Island Style and could have won a prize for best themed attire, if there had been an award for that.
