Alexis is always willing to help her peers.&nbsp; She is doing a remarkable IB Community Project by collecting board games for a local nursing home.&nbsp; She has a fantastic work ethic and does her best each and every day.&nbsp; She is a leader and is always interested in supporting the team by helping her classmates achieve more.&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong><em>Alexis<\/em><\/strong> represented SRMS at the Indian River County Science and Engineering Fair where she won the Donald Lambert Memorial award.&nbsp; She is a bright, compassionate, confident young lady who will continue to grow and succeed in everything she takes on. &nbsp;In accepting her award she thanked our club and her parents.<strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Alyssa Carroll<\/em><\/strong> plays volleyball and beach volleyball for SGMS and was awarded the Unsung Hero Award for indoor volleyball.&nbsp; Alyssa has been accepted into VBHS AP program.&nbsp; She plans to continue playing volleyball and beach volleyball at VBHS.&nbsp; She also looks forward to future volunteer work.&nbsp;while in high school.&nbsp; She would like to attend UF and major in Psychology.&nbsp; She thanked her parents and our club when accepting her award.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Cabria Brown<\/em><\/strong> is an IB Diploma candidate, but her path to this program was not typical.&nbsp; She was in the non-advanced curriculum in the 8<sup>th<\/sup> grade.&nbsp; As the year progressed Cabria decided to apply for the Honors program in high school.&nbsp; After two years of Honors level courses, she decided she was ready for the ultimate challenge: the IB Diploma Programme.&nbsp; Unlike other programs, the IB Diploma Programme challenges students in their strengths and weaknesses.&nbsp; She has done quite well!!!&nbsp;Cabria maintains a weighted GPA of 3.654.&nbsp; She coordinated the <strong>SRHS Black History Month Showcase for her CAS Project,<\/strong> is an NHS Member and was nominated to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum at St. John\u2019s University in the summer of 2017.&nbsp; She earned 1<sup>st<\/sup> place in the Indian River Science and Engineering Fair (Animal Behavior) and won a $72,000 scholarship to F.I.T.&nbsp; In accepting her award Cabria thanked parents and Mr. Sturgeon, her advisor.&nbsp; She plans to go F.I.U. in Miami to become an Immunologist.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Michael Caro, <\/em><\/strong>also an IB Diploma candidate, spent the first two years of his high school career in the Honors program.&nbsp; Michael realized that he was not being challenged to his full potential, so he decided to apply for the IB Diploma Programme.&nbsp; Since enrolling in the program, he has risen to the challenge and maintained excellent grades in his IB classes.&nbsp; Michael embodies what an IB student is: bright, articulate, hardworking, caring, determined, selfless, and engaged in his community.&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong><em>Michael<\/em><\/strong> maintains a weighted GPA of 4.075 and ranked 46<sup>th<\/sup> in his class.&nbsp; He is a member of the National Honor Society and is a 3-year member of the SRHS basketball team.&nbsp; For his CAS Project he organized a talent show to raise funds for St. Jude\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospital.&nbsp; Michael clocked 139 volunteer hours this summer at Pelican Island Elementary\u2019s 21<sup>st<\/sup> Century CLC Program.&nbsp; He earned a 5 on IB Social, Cultural Anthropology Exam and an academic scholarship to Rollins College.
