Please NOTE: the tournament will be held at Captain Hiram’s this year.
I have taken the liberty of writing up a synopsis of the rules here on this blog post. The actual rules are on the site for your review.
As always there are No wire line and electric reels allowed. In most cases we follow closely the State and Federal Fishing Guidelines and Rules.
There are Four tournament Fish Categories
- Dolphin
- Wahoo
- Kingfish
- Grouper ( Warsaw excluded)
There is No Formal Check Out: Captains may start from any Inlet but must proceed without making land to the check-in boat near ICW Marker 66 in Sebastian.
NO LINES IN BEFORE 6:00 AM . Make certain you review the rules prior to the tournament so there are no misunderstandings. We want everyone who participates in the Blue Water Open to have a great time, and hopefully win some prizes!
The rules state you may not make land or shar your fish with another boat. The final check-in begin at 2:00 pm and last check in time is at 5:00 pm. No late check-ins allowed. If your boat breaks down, we won’t hold that against you, just make certain you are checking in before 5:00 pm and you will be okay. It’s important that your fish is fresh and in good shape. Keep your catches properly iced and looking good. If you have a Junior Angler participating, we love that. But make certain they are actually doing the job of catching the fish.
Please bring your enthusiasm and patience. Remember, everyone, this is an event which raises funds for our local schools, charities, veterans and the prevention of child abuse. It is run by volunteers. Believe it or not, this all-consuming event is NOT our full-time jobs. We do this out of love and the desire to better the lives of people in our community. In fact, we could always use more contributions and volunteers, so if you think we need to do something that we are not doing, sign up, help out and perhaps you can make a difference..
The rules are clearly posted on here on our website http://www.fishingforcharity.org/bluewateropen/2017-blue-water-open-tournament-rules/
